Letter of Recommendation for Rev. Gary Moore

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to recommend Rev. Gary Moore to you as an Interim Pastor. I have known Gary for over twenty years and have had the opportunity to work with him in various situations and venues. He has just completed a similar position at Grace Community Church in Marblehead, MA, (a position for which I also wrote a letter of recommendation), and has had an outstanding ministry in leading them through a critical transition period in their church life.

What is it that Gary brings to such a ministry that is vital to the church that he serves? The first thing is a passionate commitment to Jesus Christ. Gary Moore lives for Jesus Christ and seeks to serve the church by centering everything around Christ. From this flows a deep sense of holiness and personal integrity. But this is not a pietistic or gnostic spirituality but one that is rooted in the realities of life and the broken world in which we live and serve. He is a leader who is endowed with wisdom, discernment and humility and yet is not afraid to tackle the difficult issues that are often encountered in the ministry and life of the church. His wife is a strong supporter of his ministry and complements all that he does in her life and music ministry.

Gary brings a wealth of experience and gifts to the ministry. He is an outstanding preacher of the Scriptures and expounds and applies Scripture to the lives of the parishioners in a very powerful and practical manner. He has preached for me on several occasions and has always done an excellent job in presenting the message for our congregation. (I recently asked several of our Elders who they would like to have preach in my absence and they unanimously requested Gary Moore.) His ability to preach grows out of Gary’s commitment to study the Scriptures. He is a student of the Word.  Gary is also a marvelous leader in that he is able to detect what is essential in a discussion and move beyond the extraneous and distracting matters to the heart of the issue under consideration. This is critical in leading governing bodies in a church. He is able to build consensus and develop a sense of ownership so that the various Boards and committees in the church experience a strong awareness of unity in moving forward. He is an excellent counselor and manifests a strong sense of compassion to those who are hurting or facing difficult situations.

I recommend Gary Moore without qualification or reservation for the position of Interim Pastor. If you desire further information of discussion do not hesitate to contact me at this number: cell/774 287-1669. I can also be reached by email at recoffey53@gmail.com.

Blessings on the church during this time.

Pastor, Fairlawn Christian Reformed Church
